Sarah Winn

Sarah recently completed a Master of Music with Distinction at the Royal Northern College of Music, where she is currently studying for a Postgraduate Diploma as a scholarship student under the tutelage of Hilary Summers. Sarah is originally from Johannesburg, South Africa, but completed her Bachelor of Music at the Queensland Conservatorium in Australia. While at the conservatorium, Sarah was awarded the Linda Edith Allen award for achieving the highest performance grade in her year level and the Doreen Ord & Lyceum Club Prize for Classical Voice. Sarah has performed the roles of The Composer in Strauss’ Ariadne auf Naxos, Béatrice in Berlioz’s Beatrice et Bénédict, the Chinese Cup and The Dragonfly in Ravel’s L’enfant et les sortilèges, Aloès in Chabrier’s L’etoile, along with excerpts as Jo March in Adamo’s Little Women, Lucretia in Britten’s Rape of Lucretia and Rosette in Massenet’s Manon. She is also excited to be performing the role of Orlofsky in the RNCM’s autumn production of Fledermaus. As a concert and oratorio soloist, Sarah has performed with the Altrincham Choral Society, the Chesterfield Philharmonic Choir, the Brisbane Symphony Orchestra, the Queensland Choir and Sinfonia of St Andrews, the Noosa Orchestra and the Queensland Conservatorium Singers. Professionally she performed as part of the Brisbane festival and as a Young Arist with the Buxton Opera Festival. While at the RNCM, Sarah has been generously supported by the Alice Orrell and A&N Kendall Award as well as the Maurice and Jean Buckley Award. She is also a recipient of the Annie Ridyard Scholarship for Mezzo-Sopranos and the Peter Heath Award for English Song.
