Violin: David Greed
Conductor: Simon Wright
Leader: Fiona Love
The first concert in this season will see us welcome back an old friend of the orchestra, David Greed; he will play the ever-popular violin concerto of Mendelssohn. It's been a while since we played any of Elgar's symphonies, so we shall rectify this with a performance of his first. And to start proceedings, one of Dvořák's many concert overtures.
-----
We will always endeavour to perform the concert as shown; however, should circumstances require, the orchestra reserves the right to amend the concert date, timing, concert programme, soloist and ticket pricing without prior notice.
-----
The orchestra goes on tour! We return to the lovely performing arts space in Helmsley Arts Centre with a programme of chamber works. This will feature a small selection of players from the main body of York Guildhall Orchestra members in works by Wagner, Elgar and Mozart..
The second concert in our 43rd season features the Leeds Festival Chorus in works by Parry and Mendelssohn, and an orchestral showpiece in the form of Elgar's Enigma Variations. PLEASE NOTE that this is now a Sunday matinee.
The final concert in our 43rd Season featuring works by Humperdinck, Elgar, Strauss, and Dvořák. The orchestra will be joined by Annemarie Federle, the recently appointed principal horn of the London Philharmonic Orchestra, in the Strauss Horn Concerto No.1. PLEASE NOTE that this is now a Sunday matinee.
